Description
Monument to Condorcet in Paris, in Quai de Conti, inaugurated July 14th, 1894. In 1941 the original statue par Jacques Perrin was melted by the Germans to make guns. In 1991 a modern copy was replaced on the pedestal. The site where the statue is located, between the Hotel de la Monnaie and the Institut de France, was chosen because Condorcet was member and perpetual secretary of the Académie des Sciences and director of the Hotel de la Monnaie.
